How did you feel during the experience?

In the bigning, I was concerned and sad by observing her struggle in between her personal life and professional role. As I was orgnizing this surprise I was really excited but during the surprise I was get emotional. In that moment we were not only just student but a care team which were trying to improve their instructor well-being. Watching Catherine's genuine, tearful reaction created a profound feeling of humility and it validated the power of simple, authentic connection.

How did this experience impact others??

For Catherine, the impact was immediate: I think she felt supported, seen, and validated, helping lift her spirits during a difficult time. For us, the experience was a sense of unity and peer support. I feel that our collective action was more powerful than any individual gesture, reinforcing the importance of teamwork.

What did you do well during the experience?

The most impotant aspect was the quick, silent and conrdination in between each others to exicute the plan. Even though we were sitting far away from each other but we manage tot prepare poster and reveal them at the same moment was really in sync. This elaborate the effectiveness of collaboration under pressure toward a common goal.

What could you have done differently or improved on?

While the surprise was really good but some of the poster was not visible even though mine was also Initially not visible due to set a background image on my zoom screen. I should remove that before join the class.

What were the consequences or outcomes of the experience, both positive and negative?

  • Positive: It deepened the trust and respect between the instructor and the class, strengthening the overall learning environment.It also gave us a real-life opportunity to practice empathy as a group, confirming that the principles we learn in theory are applicable to everyone, regardless of their role
  • Negative: She was crying 😭.

How do you feel about the experience now?

I belief that empathy is a foundational component of care. I feel proud to have been part of such a compassionate group. It taught me that genuine care sometimes requires stepping out of your roles (student/teacher) to acknowledge the person's humanity.
