  • Holistic Care / Person-Centered Care: This principle of holistic care include a person's emotional and psychological well-being. We recognized Catherine not just as a teacher, but as a whole person dealing with personal life stress and managing her job as our instructor.
  • Therapeutic Communication: The use of posters and the timing of the reveal demonstrated non-verbal communication. our goal was to show support, respect, and unconditional positive regards without interrupting the class with verbal comments.
  • The Role of the Care Team: The sudden, collective action highlighted the speed and impact of teamwork. Just as CCAs we have to work with team to provide emotional support, showcasing the principle that the team is stronger than the individual.

How do these principles relate to the situation you encountered?

We did what we learn from Catherine. She shows us person-centered care by making her lessons relatable and personal. We responded by showing her person-centered care, acknowledging her vulnerability and pain.This whole experience transformed learning into a shared practice.

Does this experience influence your future actions or approach?

Certinly. It makes me more mindful of the invisible struggles that clients, colleagues, and their families may be facing. From that day to rest of my life, I will always try to actively check on the well-being of the person areound myself. I learned that small gestures can give and individual so much strength to fight and build trust within any care environment.

What key lessons have you learned from this experience, and how could it contribute to your personal and professional growth as a future CCA?

The key lesson is that Compassion is not just a skill to apply to clients, it is the currency that must flow freely among all members of a care environment. This experience will defineitly contiribute to my growth as CCA. it gives me sense of practical and emotional memory of why we do what we do. It showed me genuine human kindness and emotional awareness, which is critical for a CCA.
